Places to stay in North Yorkshire

Scarborough: Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast. The town rises steeply northward and westward from the harbour onto limestone cliffs. The older part of the town lies around the harbour and is protected by a rocky headland. Scarborough is served by Scarborough railway station, with services from York, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool on the North TransPennine route and from Hull on the Yorkshire Coast Line.

York: If you are looking for a cultural getaway or a romantic weekend break then visit York and be inspired. Renowned for its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets and the iconic York Minster, York is fast developing a flourishing, cutting-edge scene. Delve into the city's vibrant café culture, take time out to enjoy some of the country's most talented street entertainers or simply watch the world go by while sipping a drink by the river.

Whitby: Whitby is a town in the Scarborough borough of North Yorkshire. It is situated 47 miles from York, at the mouth of the River Esk and spreads up the steep sides of the narrow valley carved out by the river's course. At this point the coast curves round, so the town faces more north than east. Whitby's skyline is dominated by the ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey, high on Whitby's East Cliff

Harrogate: Harrogate has some great shopping opportunities, all the high street names plus many smaller independent shops offering designer labels and high quality items. Cafes and Bars throughout the centre of the town offer the opporunity to take a break - with many having outside seating - so you can watch the world go by.

Richmond: Richmond is a market town on the River Swale in North Yorkshire and is the administrative centre of the district of Richmondshire. It is situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is the most duplicated UK placename, with 55 occurrences worldwide.
